‘Iron Lung’ movie adaptation soundtrack coming to vinyl

The soundtrack to Iron Lung, Mark ‘Markiplier’ Fischbach’s film adaptation of the 2022 horror game, is getting a vinyl release.
Originally created and published by indie game developer David Szymanski, Iron Lung is a “short horror game where you pilot a tiny submarine through an ocean of blood on an alien moon.”
Earlier this year, Markiplier’s film adaptation hit cinemas and grossed over $50million on a budget of around $4million. Now Andrew Hulshult’s oppressive soundtrack for Iron Lung is getting a vinyl release.
A 3LP set featuring 48 “specially remastered and carefully curated tracks” from the indie sci-fi horror film is available to pre-order now. A ‘Blood Ocean’ edition with cloudy red and transparent discs is available exclusively via Laced Records and there’s a standard black edition available more widely. Both variants come with artwork from Iron Lung’s creature designer and storyboard artist Molly Brown.

Hulshult’s work on Iron Lung is his debut film soundtrack after working on video games Dusk and Doom: Eternal. According to a press release, it offers a “deeply unsettling tapestry of thrumming synth pads, cavernous reverb, and nerve-shredding percussion that never truly let the listener rest from the nightmare.”
“From the moment I first walked onto the film’s set, Mark, Amy, and the rest of the crew went out of their way to make me feel at home,” said Hulshult in a press release. “This ended up being especially important because a large amount of the motifs you hear in the film were written on-location and feature samples from literal set pieces, buckets of blood, and prosthetics. The response to Iron Lung and the Iron Lung soundtrack has been absolutely incredible, and I can’t wait for fans of the film and my music to finally spin this on vinyl.”
In other news, Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is getting an official album featuring 34 original songs from artists such as Travis Scott, Fred Again.., PinkPantheress and more. The first six tracks are available to stream, and you can also pre-order vinyl copies of the album.
