Dragon Ball has withstood the test of time for a variety of reasons. Before "aura farming" was a colloquial phrase, Dragon Ball did it in spades, garnering a fandom for the droves of strong personalities the series housed. With each arc, fans became enamored with anti-heroes like Vegeta and discovered characters they didn't even know they could meet, like Android 18.

There are so many great characters to choose from, and now that roster is expanding in one particular game. On YouTube, Dragon Ball has revealed the upcoming Legends update, which will add a ton of fan favorites to the mix.

Live now in Minecraft, the full-on story mode update for Minecraft x Dragon Ball Z - 1.1 Legends is available through the official creation/mod storefront. Here's what you get in the staggeringly large update: "Take on new challenges in the latest Dragon Ball Z DLC Legends update! Discover new fighters like Bardock, Teen Gohan, Gotenks, and Vegito. Battle in new areas and compete in a new Custom Tournament mode for up to 8 players. Continue the Story Mode with 4 new fights and unlock 11 alternate versions of the original characters!"

So far, fans are discussing how much they love the update on YouTube: "Okay, I was NOT expecting this collab. MC X DB is honestly one of the best and most interesting collabs I have ever witnessed in Minecraft," one fan wrote. "This is literally the exact type of thing I used to dream about doing in Minecraft when I was a kid. Seeing this become real is insane," another excitedly explains.

Others are hoping for future updates to add even more: "Why don't Cell and Frieza have all their forms available as skins? This feels like incomplete content." One player hopes the add-on is expanded in the future foundationally: "I had hoped to be able to have a Minecraft adventure with the powers and abilities of the DBZ franchise. Which you don't get with this. You ARE the characters in an enclosed space for those game modes. There is no freedom."

Minecraft x Dragon Ball Z - 1.1 Legends Update Cell versus Gohan

Amassing over a million views in just a few days, it's clear there's a huge demand for more IP-based experiences in Minecraft. Mojang started rolling these out very slowly back in the day, providing general story packs like Ancient Greece before moving on to other franchises like The Elder Scrolls and Halo.

Eventually, the official storefront opened up in earnest in Minecraft, and we started to see more out-there experimental concepts, such as Sonic the Hedgehog recreated in Minecraft or Pac-Man. The limits of what Minecraft can be (and host) have been pushed, and that's not even including the more impressive fan efforts.

There's no telling when Minecraft will call it quits, but given its success, we're due for a follow-up once the audience has been fully saturated. It's truly earned the right to call itself one of the most popular games of all time, and the inclusion of team-ups like Dragon Ball really hit that point home.
