Kidnapped Corps Members: Mother paid ₦3m ransom

Translate

One of the mothers of the 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted in Imo State has recounted how she struggled to raise ₦3 million as ransom while fearing for her child’s life.

The distraught mother said she ran from place to place to raise the money before eventually sending someone to deliver the ransom to the kidnappers.

“I paid as much as ₦3 million as ransom while I was hoping that nothing happened to my child. I ran helter-skelter to raise the money. I eventually got the money and sent someone to deliver the ransom directly to them,” she said.

The parents of the 20 prospective corps members have recounted their ordeal following the abduction of their children while they were travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to their respective NYSC orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states.

The abduction occurred six days before the account emerged, leaving families scrambling to secure the release of their children amid fears for their safety.

The mother’s account highlights the financial and emotional burden faced by families as they struggled to raise money to secure the freedom of their loved ones.
