LIST: Free rides offered on select NCR routes Tuesday, Aug. 18


MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will provide free rides on select Metro Manila routes on Tuesday, Aug. 18, to help commuters affected by heavy rains and flooding brought by the southwest monsoon, or habagat.
The free rides will be available from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., in both directions, along the following routes:

The DOTr said that a tarpaulin or signage with “LIBRENG SAKAY” will be displayed on the vehicles. It added that there will be no designated terminals as the buses will be looped in their respective routes.
Transport Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the government will deploy 43 vehicle assets for this initiative, through the help of other agencies such as the Office of the President, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Ports Authority, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Land Transportation Office, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, Department of Energy, Department of Labor and Employment, and Philippine Army.
Malacañang has ordered government offices in 15 areas to shift to alternative work arrangements on Tuesday due to inclement weather brought by the southwest monsoon or habagat. These areas are the National Capital Region, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, and Occidental Mindoro./dp
