Alan Ritchson could not bring his favorite Reacher book to life as a season of the hit Prime Video TV show, but the actor's R-rated action thriller movie that has now come to trend on Netflix after its theatrical run shares a core element with that story. Reacher is one of Prime Video's most popular series, and it has a lot of source material to adapt.
After all, the Lee Child Jack Reacher series of novels is quite long, with 30 core books released so far and the 31st, Chain Reaction, set to be released soon, on October 20. Every season of Ritchson's Reacher has adapted one of the author's novels. Season 1 covered Killing Floor, which was the first Jack Reacher book, a fitting choice to start the franchise.
After that, the options varied, with season 2 adapting Bad Luck and Trouble, the 11th Jack Reacher book, season 3 going for Persuader, the 7th novel in the franchise, and the recently-concluded Reacher season 4 taking on Gone Tomorrow, Child's 13th Reacher novel. With so many books to choose from, Reacher could virtually go on for as long as Ritchson wants to keep playing the character, as the Prime Video series continues to lead streaming charts whenever it has new episodes to air. That said, there is one of Child's novels that might not see the light of day anytime soon, but another Ritchson movie covers its key element.
Alan Ritchson Revealed The Lee Child Book He Was Blocked From Adapting In Reacher
Recently, Ritchson interacted with a fan on Threads, revealing an interesting piece of info on his favorite Jack Reacher novel and how the show almost adapted it. When the fan commented on how they were said that Reacher had yet to adapt the Lee Child novel where Ritchson's character "kills his way through a white supremacist militia camp," aka the plot of Die Trying, the 2nd novel in the Jack Reacher franchise, released all the way back in 1998, Ritchson chimed in to say that he had tried to bring that story to life in the Prime Video action thriller series.
The star said, "My favorite book. Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected." As such, Ritchson claimed that he was blocked from adapting the 2nd Jack Reacher novel despite having originally gotten the approval to do it, which came as a result of Donald Trump's re-election, from what the actor implied. Given how Reacher season 1 was based on Killing Floor, Child's first Jack Reacher novel, going from that to the following novel in the franchise made sense as an early plan, or doing so in Reacher's first few seasons. However, Ritchson was blocked from adapting his favorite novel.

Given how there has been no status update on the chances of Die Trying getting adapted in the future, Reacher fans might want to turn to Ritchson's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare on Netflix in the United States, which offers a similar experience.
