Olympic Champion Sifan Hassan has pulled out of the New York City Marathon after not being able to prepare properly.
In a post on social media on Thursday, she said, “I was so excited to come back stronger, but a sickness slowed down my training, and I’m not where I wanted to be.”
“Sometimes, things just don’t go as planned,” she added.

She was forced out of the London Marathon earlier this year due to an Achilles injury.
The NYC Marathon is scheduled to take place on November 1, 2026.
