Rita Okoye bags journalism award
Journalist and media professional, Rita Okoye, has been honoured as the Best Creative Entertainment Writer of the Year at the 2026 Top Society Magazine Awards.
The award was presented at a ceremony held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, and organised by the publisher of Top Society Magazine, Isaac Agwazim.
Okoye, who has extensive experience covering entertainment, lifestyle and fashion, was recognised for her contributions to creative journalism and her work covering Nigeria’s entertainment and lifestyle industries.
Reacting to the honour, Okoye described it as an encouragement to remain committed to responsible and impactful journalism.
She said, “I am deeply honoured to receive this award. For me, it is not just a recognition of what I have done, but also an encouragement to keep telling stories that matter.

The ceremony attracted personalities from the business, religious, entertainment and public sectors.
The latest honour adds to Okoye’s list of journalism awards. She was previously named the Entertainment Writer of the Year at the 13th edition of the Nigeria Media Nite-Out Awards.
Okoye, who is the Entertainment Editor of Daily Sun Newspapers, has covered several prominent personalities and developments in Nigeria’s entertainment and creative industries. Her work includes interviews, celebrity profiles, entertainment news, lifestyle features and human-interest stories.
