UCL: Osimhen Picks Up Man Of The Match Award In Galatasaray’s 4-2 Win At Lille
Nigeria international Victor Osimhen was named Man of the Match after inspiring Galatasaray to a thrilling 4-2 away win over his former club Lille on Wednesday night.
Both Lille and Galatasaray went into the matchday 3 fixture winless after losing their opening two games. Lille had fallen to Real Betis and Arsenal, while Galatasaray lost to Sporting Lisbon and Barcelona.
With Galatasaray 3-2 ahead, Osimhen added the fourth goal in the 61st minute. He finished off a counter attack after hitting a powerful right-foot strike to seal the win and register his first in this season’s Champions League.
Osimhen refused to celebrate against Lille — the club where he scored 18 goals in 2019/20 and won Player of the Season before moving to Napoli.
UEFA’s Technical Observer Group named him Man of the Match for his movement and constant threat.

He now has seven goals and three assists in eight games in all competitions this season.
Speaking after the win, Osimhen said: “I love this stadium. The fans are incredible. We had a tough match. I’m very happy for our team; we won. I also wish Lille good luck in their next matches. Lille players are very tough. They even took the lead. We managed to win the match together as a team.”
Commenting on critics he added: “Nobody can teach me how to play with the ball or how to score goals. I’m one of the best strikers in the world.”
Galatasaray move to 23rd in the 36-team table and host VfB Stuttgart next on November 3, while Lille remain pointless after three games.
