6 fugitives arrested in Northern Mindanao

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A sweeping 24-hour police dragnet across Northern Mindanao resulted in the capture of six of the region’s most wanted fugitives, including a top-tier murder suspect and multiple individuals facing sexual abuse charges.

Police units in Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, and this city carried out the coordinated warrant operations on Friday and Saturday.

Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr., Police Regional Office-10 (PRO-10) director, ordered the intensified crackdown to bring individuals with standing warrants before the courts.

Among those apprehended was alias “Ronron,” listed as the Top 10 regional-level most wanted person. He was arrested by the Talakag Municipal Police Station (MPS) in Bukidnon for murder.

The 24-hour sweep also netted several provincial-level fugitives wanted for sexual offenses.

Three persons were also separately arrested by the Claveria, Impasugong, and Manolo Fortich municipal police stations in Bukidnon for rape and acts of lasciviousness.

In Misamis Oriental, the Provincial Intelligence Unit arrested alias “Jose,” the Top 8 provincial-level fugitive, who was charged with alleged qualified rape of a minor and qualified sexual assault of a minor.

In this city, operatives from Police Station 7 of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) apprehended alias “JR,” the city’s third most wanted person, for alleged qualified rape of a minor.

Babagay said the campaign against wanted persons remains a priority for PRO-10 to promote public safety and uphold the rule of law.

“We will continue to strengthen our efforts to locate and arrest wanted persons through focused, intelligence-driven, and lawful operations. Every warrant served is a step toward accountability and justice for the victims and their families,” Babagay said in a statement on Sunday.

He directed police units regionwide to sustain their coordination, intelligence gathering, and case monitoring to track down remaining fugitives in line with the national police’s agenda for swift, honest, and felt public service./coa
