Dodici passeggeri sono morti e altri dieci sono rimasti feriti nell’incidente di un autobus che trasportava pellegrini polacchi di ritorno dalla Bosnia lungo un’autostrada in Ungheria, la M3. L’incidente è avvenuto nella zona di Mezokeresztes, a circa 140 chilometri a Est di Budapest. Sul pullman erano 59 tra passeggeri e autisti. Secondo una prima ricostruzione il bus è uscito di strada ed è finito in un fosso, ribaltandosi. La prima ipotesi delle cause porta a un colpo di sonno dell’autista, che al momento è posto in stato di fermo. Secondo quanto riferito dal governo regionale polacco di Rzeszów in un post su Facebook, l’autobus trasportava persone provenienti dalla regione sud-orientale polacca dei Podkarpazia che stavano tornando da un pellegrinaggio in Bosnia-Erzegovina.

Il primo ministro ungherese, Péter Magyar, ha espresso le sue condoglianze alle famiglie delle vittime e ha ringraziato i soccorritori intervenuti sul posto. Il presidente polacco Karol Nawrocki ha espresso il suo “profondo cordoglio” per l’incidente, scrivendo in un post su X: “Mi unisco alle famiglie e ai cari delle vittime nella preghiera e nella profonda solidarietà”. La Polonia, ha dichiarato il primo ministro Donald Tusk, invierà un aereo d’emergenza.
