Detectives Recover Motorcycle Allegedly Used to Ferry Gunman in Kyalo Mbobu Murder

Detectives investigating the murder of lawyer Kyalo Mbobu have recovered a motorcycle allegedly used to transport the suspected gunman to and from the scene of the fatal shooting.

The recovery is the latest development in investigations into Mbobu’s killing on September 9, 2025, and comes after detectives arrested three suspects, including a boda boda rider believed to have transported the alleged shooter.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the rider told investigators that he was operating the motorcycle when the shooting took place.

Motorcycle traced through several owners

Following the rider’s account, detectives launched a search for the motorcycle and traced its movements through a succession of owners before eventually locating it.

The motorcycle was recovered and taken to the Homicide Offices, where detectives are expected to subject it to further forensic examination.

The DCI said the boda boda rider positively identified the motorcycle when investigators presented it to him.

“(The suspect) positively identified it as the one he had used to ferry the suspected gunman during the fatal attack,” the DCI said.

The registration number of the motorcycle has not been disclosed.

Suspected gunman already arrested

The latest development comes after detectives arrested the suspected gunman as part of investigations into Mbobu’s death.

Investigators are now working to establish the movements of the suspects before and after the shooting and determine the specific roles allegedly played by those arrested.

The recovered motorcycle is expected to provide investigators with another piece of evidence as they reconstruct the events surrounding the killing.

Detectives will also examine the motorcycle for possible forensic evidence that could link it to the shooting or to the suspects under investigation.

DCI reconstructs events surrounding killing

The DCI said investigators were following multiple leads as they sought to establish the circumstances and motive behind Mbobu’s murder.

“With every new piece of evidence, detectives are steadily reconstructing the chain of events surrounding Lawyer Mbobu’s murder,” the agency said.

The agency said its investigation would also seek to identify everyone who may have been involved in the killing.

“The focus remains on establishing the full circumstances of the killing, identifying every person involved and bringing those suspected of responsibility to justice,” the DCI said.

Mbobu’s murder has remained under investigation as detectives work to piece together what happened before, during and after the shooting.
