Saudi Pro League - Al Nassr v Al Taawoun - Al Awwal Park, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - August 28, 2026 Al Nassr's Cristiano Ronaldo reacts after the match

Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al Nassr have set a new record for the most consecutive matches with a goal in a top-flight league, scoring in their 94th straight game to surpass a mark that had stood for 87 years. The Saudi Pro League record was confirmed on Saturday when substitute Abdullah Al-Hamdan scored from long range to earn Al Nassr a 1-1 draw against Al Khaleej. The goal took Al Nassr past the previous record of 93 consecutive league matches set by Buenos Aires-based Club Atlético River Plate between September 1936 and June 1939.Al Nassr's run began on December 8, 2023, when they beat Al Riyadh 4-1. Their previous league match without a goal had been a 3-0 defeat to Al Hilal.

Since then, Ronaldo and his teammates have scored in every Saudi Pro League match they have played. The draw against Al Khaleej also completed Al Nassr's preparations for their AFC Champions League Elite campaign. They will begin their continental campaign away against Al Ain on September 16.

Last season, Al Nassr played in the AFC Champions League Two and reached the final after winning all 10 of their matches before losing 1-0 to Gamba Osaka.

Ronaldo returned to Al Nassr after Portugal's early exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup for what he has indicated will likely be his final season in professional football. The 41-year-old won the Saudi Pro League in May 2026, his first major trophy in Riyadh, and will now look to defend the title in his 25th professional season.Ronaldo missed the season opener against Al-Fateh after returning from his wedding to Georgina Rodriguez. He made his return on August 21, coming off the bench to score his 977th career goal. He has since scored three times in his first few league appearances of the 2026-27 season.
