Halloween is fast approaching, and with many of us celebrating it in weeks in advance, there is no better time than to immerse yourself in the darker side of Red Dead Redemption 2. Despite not being a horror game on the surface, there are plenty of terrifying locations, people, and moments throughout Arthur's journey. Need I remind you of Bayou Nwa and the Night Folk?
Well, it seems as though Red Dead Online is going all out this Halloween with a full month dedicated to the chaos that has engulfed the Frontier in the lead-up to the spookiest night of the year.
"Haunting season has reached the frontier, treating Red Dead Online players to hefty bonuses for the hair-raising adventures in Strange Tales of the West," the official Rockstar blog post reads. "Get 4X RDO$, Gold, and XP all month long for investigating these weird and unexplained phenomena that include shambling undead, ornery swamp folk, and reports of artificial life. And that's merely the beginning…"
Throughout the month of October, Red Dead Online players will be able to earn a variety of freebies simply by just logging in. However, if you choose to partake in some challenges and events in the meantime, you can bag yourself some limited-time goodies.
Between the 6 to the 12 of October, you will be able to earn a Free Coat by simply selling one Wildlife Sample. However, if you have even more samples on your person, you can sell them to Harriet Davenport to earn 3X RDO$, Role XP, and XP.
On the topic of coats, you can also earn the Fernwater Coat by simply logging into Red Dead Online throughout October, and if you are anything like me, the new cosmetics are the things you are most interested in. Well, there is more where that came from, as reaching Wave 5 in any All Hallows’ Call to Arms this month will reward you with the Rowberrow Outfit and the Air Banjo Emote. Additionally, the Beat Chest Emote and a Gold Bar will also be rewarded for those who reach Wave 10. Last but not least, there is some returning clothing this month, including Pelt Half Chaps, Tied Pants, Folwell Hat, and Prieto Poncho.
When it comes to events, Red Dead Online in October is jam-packed. All Hallows’ Call to Arms makes a spectacular return as players ward off evil entities across ten seasonal maps, and by playing all ten maps from 27 October to 2 November, you will bag youself the orange Benbow Jacket.
Investigate rumors of the terrifying and supernatural in Strange Tales of the West, four Telegram Missions paying out 4X RDO$, Gold, and XP through November 2.
To get started, pick up author Theodore Levin’s letter from any Post Office or your Camp’s Lockbox and open it in your Satchel, or launch Telegram Missions from your Player Menu.
As you can see, there has never been a better time to check out Red Dead Online as fellow outlaws will be taking to the Frontier to celebrate the Halloween season in style, so make sure you do not miss out on the myriad of freebies you can earn in the meantime.
