Missing money lending collector found dead in Lanao del Sur

PARANG, Maguindanao del Norte — Police found the body of a missing moneylending collector buried in a shallow grave in a pineapple plantation in Wao, Lanao del Sur, on Friday afternoon, police said.

Capt. Steffi Salanguit, spokesperson for the Police Regional Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), identified the victim as Marvin Muñez Daumar, 36, a collector for JDS Lending Co. and a resident of Barangay Batangan, Valencia City, Bukidnon.

Salanguit said police recovered Daumar’s body in Barnaby Buntongan, Wao, after receiving information about a suspected cadaver discovered by residents.

On Oct. 5, the victim’s brother, Dominic, reported to the Wao municipal police station that Daumar was missing. He was last seen collecting daily payments from clients of the lending company.

Daumar had gunshot wounds to the face and chest. His body was buried in a grave about 1 meter deep in the plantation.

Salanguit said an investigation by Wao police showed that residents heard three gunshots at about 1 p.m. on Oct. 5, amid heavy rain.

The victim’s family retrieved his remains and brought them to Valencia City on Friday as the police investigation continued. /das
