Rappler Live Jam: The cast of ‘Muli: An OPM Musical’

Set across the '90s and early 2000s, the musical 'Muli' moves through different eras and sounds of OPM

MANILA, Philippines – Muli: An OPM Musical brings its original music to Rappler Live Jam on Thursday, September 3, giving audiences a preview of the songs behind its story of missed chances, old dreams, and the prospect of starting anew.

The musical follows Anita, a 42-year-old housewife who finds herself looking back on the past two decades and reflecting on the possibilities of the different paths she might have taken. Her daughter Kath encourages her to look beyond the life she has built around motherhood and rediscover the dreams she once had for herself.

Set across the ’90s and early 2000s, the musical moves through different eras and sounds of OPM, with 11 original songs written and produced by singer-songwriter Nica del Rosario and musical director and composer Matthew Chang alongside talents from FlipMusic, the team behind BINI favorites “Pantropiko,” “Salamin, Salamin,” and “Karera,” as well as the Sarah Geronimo hit “Tala.”

The musical stars Gawad Urian award-winning actress Kakki Teodoro as Anita and OPM artist Janine Teñoso as her daughter Kath, with ensemble cast members Vien King, Marvin Ong, Justine Peña, Marynor Mademesila, and Baus Rufo.

Muli also marks Janine’s theater stage debut after establishing herself through OPM and Filipino OST hits.

Showdates run from September 11-27 at the Globe Auditorium, Maybank Performing Arts Theater at the BGC Arts Center in Taguig City.
