Taylor Swift stuns with first-ever live performance of hit song The Fate of Ophelia at Academy Museum Gala

Taylor Swift delighted a star-studded crowd at the Academy Museum Gala on Saturday night with a live debut of her hit song The Fate of Ophelia.
The song was Swift's lead single and opening track on her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, in 2025, and her longest-running number one hit, and she finally gave it the attention it deserved.
Swift, who helped husband Travis Kelce celebrate his 37th birthday this month, also sang her other hits Blank Space, Love Story and I Knew It, I Knew You, her original song from Toy Story 5.
But her first-ever performance of The Fate of Ophelia, which spent ten weeks at number one on the Billboard-Hot 100, went immediately viral on social media.
Fans were amazed that Swift, 36, performed the tune at long last after months of speculation and waiting.
'TAYLOR SINGING THE FATE OF OPHELIA HIGH NOTE FOR THE FIRST TIME OMG,' one Reddit user wrote over a clip of Swift performing with backup singers and saxophone players.

'FINALLY OPHELIA OH MY GOD,' a fellow Swiftie shared in the comments.
Another Reddit follower wrote, 'I love it. I love the dorky saxophone choreography, you can tell they were having fun with that. I also love that we are finally seeing a life of a showgirl performance.'
'I really love this song, I was wondering why she never performed it during showgirl promo period. She sounds great,' a fourth chimed in.
Wearing a midnight-blue, floor-length gown with sheer details and a retro Hollywood hairstyle, Swift excited the crowd as well.
Attendees included Cara Delevingne, Jessica Alba, Sabrina Carpenter, Rose, Connor Storrie, Demi Moore, Kate Hudson, Charlize Theron, Joey King, Dakota Fanning, Elle Fanning, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, and many more.
The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures announced on October 8 that Swift would go on stage at its sixth annual gala.
Academy Museum Director and President Amy Homma said Swift was 'an extraordinary talent whose work resonates around the world,' per Page Six.
The new bride, who wed NFL star Travis Kelce at New York City's Madison Square Garden on July 3, walked the gala's red carpet wearing a paler blue creation by Dior.

Swift's gala performance comes after she officially surpassed Beyonce as the most-award artist in MTV Video Music Awards history in September.
She took the lead by winning the inaugural MTV Artist Director Honors, which was presented to her by Dakota Johnson, at the event in Los Angeles.
Earlier this month, Swift made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live.
The pop superstar last appeared on SNL in October 2023 when she introduced musical guest Ice Spice, and previously guest hosted in 2009 as well as making multiple appearances as the show's musical guest.
But she popped up during her friend Dakota Johnson's opening monologue, which was largely focused on her history of dating musicians.
Guest host Johnson, who was recently romantically linked with Machine Gun Kelly following her split from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, noted she had supportive friends who 'don't judge me for dating these men.'
She then introduced the audience to her 'literal therapist,' prompting Swift to walk out on stage.
'I'm not your therapist, actually,' Swift playfully said. 'You just show up once a week at my house with an empty bottle of wine and ask if I want some.

'You flop on my couch and overshare, and every so often I just say, "Damn, that's crazy."'
The gag ended with Swift noting she sends her pal home with a 'Pedialyte' – a rehydrating drink – and a security escort.
Johnson also gave a nod to Swift's husband, Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, when she noted the singer's dating life had taken her to 'England and parts of Ireland and Cleveland.'
