World Tennis has announced that the men’s and women’s 30-plus team events at the annual Masters World Team Championships will be named after Indian tennis legend Leander Paes and former Czech player Marie Pinterova, respectively.

The men’s competition will be called the Leander Paes Cup, while the women’s event will be known as the Marie Pinterova Cup, recognising the two players’ achievements and contributions to the sport.

The newly named competitions will be held during the 2026 World Tennis Masters Team Championships in Tokyo, Japan, from November 15 to 20.

The 30-plus team competitions are among the latest additions to the expanding World Tennis Masters Tour, which features international tournaments for players across different age categories.

Several other team competitions on the Masters Tour already carry the names of famous tennis players.

Paes, an 18-time Grand Slam champion across men’s and mixed doubles, also won the men’s singles bronze medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
