Samini explains why he avoids X Spaces, TikTok Live sessions

Ghanaian dancehall musician Samini says he avoids X Spaces and TikTok Live sessions because they can expose him to disrespect and damage his carefully built brand.

The award-winning artiste made this known at the launch of the Samini Xperience 2026, Dansoman Edition, on Friday, 16th October 2026, as he prepares to bring his signature concert to Dansoman during the festive season.

Samini explained that although people and businesses must adapt to changing trends, not every new approach to communication is necessarily prudent.

“There are always new ways of doing things and we always adapt but you see, not all those ways are prudent,” he said.

He recalled a time before social media when fans had fewer opportunities to interact directly with established musicians, explaining that they often had to attend concerts to see their favourite artistes.

“Before social media. Before you could tweet at me and say ‘your mother’, the only place you would see me was when they had booked me for show and you have bought your ticket to be in that show and there is a standby photographer that you were hoping to take me and you so that you can say you have been able to [get close to me],” he added.

According to Samini, the rise of social media has made it easier for people to approach celebrities online and make comments they might not have made in person.

“So for things like Twitter Spaces and TikTok Live, you are live, and some boy in some corner now has the opportunity to say whatever they want to you. And they go overboard to say things to you that if you are not careful as a human being you get derailed and you say things that eventually gonna go detrimental to your hard built brand. So if you have not seen me in those places, these are the reasons,” he noted.

He said such interactions could provoke artistes into responding in ways that might ultimately harm their public image and professional reputation.

Samini, however, clarified that he had not completely ruled out participating in X Spaces or TikTok Live sessions.

He said he could consider joining such discussions if he believed they would contribute to his craft and serve a meaningful professional purpose.

The celebrated musician added that his team would carefully assess potential engagements and select participants who could add value to discussions and contribute positively to the projects or initiatives involved.
