Sharon Osbourne says she will ‘never get over’ husband Ozzy’s death

The Black Sabbath rocker, 76, died of a heart attack last year and had asked his wife to “hold me tight” as they lay in bed in the hours before his death.

The couple shared three children, Aimee, 43; Kelly, 41; and Jack, 40, and Ozzy was also a father to Jessica, Louis and adopted son Elliot, from his previous marriage to Thelma Riley.

“We’d spoken in the night. Ozzy had woken in the night and he asked me to kiss him twice, and I did,” Osbourne told the BBC.

“And then he said, ‘Hold me, hold me tight,’ and I did.”

The singer died weeks after his farewell concert in his hometown of Birmingham.

Osbourne also opened up about the grief she has experienced since losing him after more than 50 years together.

“You’ve lost the love of your life, so you don’t just wake up and go, ‘I’m fine now. I’m cured’.

“You never get over it. But you learn to live with it, and that’s what I’m trying to do. So you either sit in a room and don’t come out, or you accept it, befriend it, and that’s it.”

She also revealed that she visits Ozzy’s grave every day, explaining why she opted to bury him in a private burial site, adding she wanted her husband to “rest”.

“There was no way I could put Ozzy in a public graveyard,” she said.

“I’ve seen what happens to other people in the public eye. There’s no peace because people want to come and they want to pay their respects. That’s an ongoing thing, and I wanted Ozzy to rest and just be.”

Black Sabbath formed in Birmingham in 1968 and went on to become one of the most successful heavy metal bands of all time, with Ozzy dubbed the “Prince of Darkness”.
