KUANTAN, Oct 7 — Police have recorded statements from three individuals to assist investigations into the death of a female student, who is believed to have been killed by her boyfriend at a house on Jalan Air Putih here yesterday.

Kuantan District Police Chief ACP Ashari Abu Samah said police had summoned the victim’s housemates to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“The victim and the suspect had known each other for about a year, and the incident is believed to have stemmed from jealousy. Investigations are still ongoing,” he said when contacted today.

Earlier, police received an emergency call from the victim’s boyfriend at 4.32 am, following which the 19-year-old Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic (POLISAS) student was found lying on a bed in a rented room on the ground floor of the house.

Police subsequently arrested a 19-year-old man at the scene, who has been remanded until next Monday to facilitate further investigations. — Bernama
