Lionel Messi may have retired from international football, but he is showing no signs of slowing down at club level, scoring twice in Inter Miami’s 3-1 win against Atlanta United in their Major League Soccer meeting on Saturday.

Messi scored twice in the second half after German Berterame had put the Herons ahead just before half-time.

The 39-year-old rolled back the years for both the goals, with the first arriving in the 56th minute after he danced through the opposition defence before finding the back of the net.

Four minutes later, it was Atlanta defender Junior Alonso who fell victim to Messi’s movement before he fired past goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos.
