Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has said he wants British-Nigerian Anthony Joshua to fight former WBC champion Deontay Wilder after his December 11 meeting with Tyson Fury, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Tyson backed Fury to win the all-British heavyweight clash at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, but he was keen on a Joshua-Wilder fight afterwards. He spoke on DJ WHOO KID’s show.

Referring to Fury, he said, “Tyson’s always been known to handle pressure well, but it’s going to be interesting to watch this fight. I know Joshua’s going to be throwing faster punches, but his punches can’t be faster than Deontay Wilder’s.”

“I wanna see him (Joshua) fight Deontay.”

The fight was announced on September 24 by Saudi adviser Turki Alalshikh and will be streamed on Netflix, with a start expected in the early hours of December 12. Cardiff Council still has to approve changes to the stadium licence for the late start.

The winner is due to take the WBA ‘super’ title, even though Murat Gassiev holds the governing body’s ‘regular’ belt and considers himself a world champion.

Many fans give Fury the edge.

The 37-year-old beat Arslanbek Makhmudov on points and Mariusz Wach by stoppage this year without looking in danger. He has a record of 36 wins, two losses and a draw.

Joshua, 36, has a record of 30 wins and four losses. He beat Prenga by second-round knockout in Jeddah in July after being knocked down twice in the first round.
