Coronation Street airs emotional outburst for Debbie Webster as marriage to Ronnie Bailey at threat in early ITVX release

Debbie Webster's (Sue Devaney) marriage to Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) is in crisis in Coronation Street, after her actions led them to a heartbreaking crossroads in Friday's (23rd October 2026) episode.

Living with vascular dementia, Debbie's condition has been deteriorating of late, and following a moment where she called Ronnie by the name of an old boyfriend, Debbie was upset when Ronnie couldn't bring himself to sleep with her.

Ronnie fears that Debbie no longer has capacity to consent, but Debbie can't help believing that her husband simply doesn't want her any more.

At the Chariot Square Hotel, owner Debbie was determined to keep busy by working, but the day got off to a bad start when she failed to recognise a new client from the previous day, bride-to-be Denise (Nicole Evans).

Despite having been told that Debbie has dementia, Denise had no empathy as she privately branded Debbie a liability when discussing the situation with manager Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott).

Meanwhile, troublemaker Paula (Kelli Hollis) was insulted when Debbie didn't remember her from their time in prison together earlier in the year.

Debbie gave as good as she got, but upon recalling who Paula was, her mood changed and she kindly offered the woman a free steak dinner.

Paula was happy to take advantage, but as she tried to order more drinks on the house, Debbie ordered her to sling her hook.

Ryan was drawn into the drama and, as Denise stood in earshot, Paula declared Debbie the maddest of all their fellow inmates, even adding that she was "demented".

Debbie didn't shy away from the cruel comment, replying that actually, she had a diagnosis to prove Paula right.

But Denise was unimpressed to learn about Debbie's time behind bars and walked out, asserting that she would not be having her wedding at this hotel after all.

At the bar, Debbie met Denise's fiancé Stan (Jonny McGarrity) and, pouring him a drink, she confided her marital problems and flirted up a storm.

Stan was nice enough but clearly not interested, though when Ryan and Ronnie arrived, Ronnie squared up to Stan and ordered him out.

Back at the flat, Debbie was mortified and reminded Ronnie that she had always been a flirtatious soul, and that this was as far as it went – although she made a dig that other men, at least, may still fancy her.

But Ronnie explained that Debbie's behaviour was growing increasingly unpredictable, and as their row got out of hand, he blurted out that she was not the same woman he fell in love with and married.

Devastated, Debbie threw an apologetic Ronnie out before collapsing in tears. Is there any way back for the couple?
