Harry Kane has revealed that the uncertainty surrounding the Ballon d’Or is weighing heavily on his family, with his wife keen to know the result in advance of Monday’s ceremony in London.
Speaking after Bayern Munich’s 2-2 Champions League draw with Arsenal, the England captain opened up about the tension building ahead of the prestigious awards night.
Fabrizio Romano on X on Friday, posted, “My wife would prefer to know the result now, and my family is very nervous,” Kane said.
“I understand France Football wishes to keep silent so that all the stars can attend, but from my point of view, of course I would like to know the result without having to wait all evening. I will surely enjoy the evening.”
The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony takes place on Monday, 26 October at the London Palladium, the first time the event has been staged outside Paris.
The move marks the 70th anniversary of the award and pays tribute to Sir Stanley Matthews, the Englishman who won the inaugural Ballon d’Or in 1956.
Kane heads into the night as one of the clear favourites following a record-breaking 2025-26 season.
The Bayern striker scored 73 goals across club and country, helping the German champions secure a domestic double while also delivering strong performances for England.

His remarkable numbers have put him in contention to become the first English winner since Michael Owen in 2001 and Bayern’s first since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge more than four decades ago.
Other leading contenders include Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé and last year’s winner Ousmane Dembélé.
Kane has consistently downplayed talk of the individual prize, insisting he is focused on Bayern’s ongoing campaign, but he acknowledged the constant speculation has been hard to ignore.
“I try not to think about it. Obviously it is hard not to. There are always rumours and stuff flying around so you try to stay away from it,” he added.
“We’ll have to just enjoy it and try not to stress out too much.”
With the votes already cast and the result tightly under wraps, Kane and his family must wait until Monday evening to discover whether the Ballon d’Or is heading his way.
