Sarrat opens upgraded health facility
SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur — Residents of Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, and nearby towns can now access laboratory tests, X-rays, and ultrasound services locally following the expansion of the town’s primary care facility.
In a statement on Saturday, Sept. 19, the Department of Health (DOH) Ilocos Region said the new Clinical Laboratory, X-Ray and Ultrasound Services at the Sarrat Primary Care Facility (PCF) were inaugurated on Sept. 11 by the agency, along with the Ilocos Norte provincial government and the Sarrat municipal government.
The P4.995-million upgrade was funded through the DOH Health Facilities Enhancement Program under the 2025 General Appropriations Act.

The project is expected to reduce the need for residents to travel to other towns or cities for routine diagnostic procedures.
The upgraded facility also includes an expanded outpatient department and a fully equipped emergency room for emergency maternal and other urgent care.
Its accredited Animal Bite Treatment Center continues to provide rabies post-exposure prophylaxis and wound management, while a licensed pharmacy is being established to make medicines more accessible to patients.
The expansion is part of efforts to strengthen primary care and bring essential health services closer to communities under the Universal Health Care program. /mcm
