Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna will be seen on the big screens for the first time together since their much hyped wedding in the period action drama ‘Ranabaali’ directed by Rahul Sankrityan. Last night during the film’s trailer launch event, the actor spoke about the film’s story and said it aims to bring hidden history and forgotten heroes before audiences.

Sankrityan alongwith the producers discussed the film. Vijay said, “In another eight days, Ranabaali will come before you for the Dasara festival. The history that was hidden from us, the history of heroes that they did not want us to know, and the stories that were preserved through folk traditions and burrakathas so that we would not forget them, Ranabaali is going to make an attempt to correct that history on October 16,” he said.

Vijay calls ‘Ranabaali’ a special film

The ‘Arjun Reddy’ actor further said he strongly believes the film will take its folklore and history to audiences across the world.“I strongly believe that Ranabaali will bring that folklore and history to the entire world, allowing everyone to experience that world on the big screen and taking you all into it,” he added.He also praised Rahul Sankrityan, with whom he previously worked on the 2018 film ‘Taxiwaala’.

Vijay said he recognised Rahul’s writing talent when he narrated the earlier film, but ‘Ranabaali’ left an even stronger impression on him.

“When he narrated Taxiwaala, I got to know that Rahul was a superb writer. When he narrated Ranabaali to me, I felt that this was the greatest script coming from Telugu cinema this year,” said Vijay Deverakonda.The ‘Kingdom’ actor revealed that producer Ravi Shankar was the first person to approach him with the project.

After hearing Rahul’s narration, he felt the story was meant for him.“He told me that ‘Taxiwaala’ director Rahul had come up with a beautiful story, and he was so excited that day. Then Rahul narrated the story to me, and I felt that some stories choose the actors, and Ranabaali has chosen me,” he said.

Vijay apologises for Rashmika’s Mandanna absence

During the event, Vijay Deverakonda also praised the film’s characters and setting, including Jayamma played by his wife Rashmika Mandanna, Hector essayed by Hollywood’s ‘The Mummy’ actor Arnold Vosloo and the village of Singanamala, which he said is his mother’s native place.Rashmika Mandanna was also expected to attend the trailer launch but could not make it. Vijay apologised for her absence, saying, “I apologise on behalf of Rashmika for not being able to attend this event.”For the event, Vijay Deverakonda went with a stunning and regal white traditional suit.‘Ranabaali’ will arrive in theatres on October 16, 2026, during the Dasara festive season. It will be available in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada.
