Hollyoaks star confirms new Casualty role four years after soap exit

One of Hollyoaks' most popular stars of recent years has confirmed a role in another major show. Billy Price will be familiar to soap fans for playing Sid Sumner from 2019 to 2022.

Now, four years after his character left the Channel 4 hit, he's teased a new job on a major BBC drama.

Speaking to London Beautiful Life Media, the actor was asked what he has in the pipeline, and let slip that we might be seeing him on a certain iconic show that's just celebrated its 40th anniversary.

"I just finished doing Casualty, been doing that," he said. "Just have to wait and find out, won't you!"

Details on his specific role and when he'll be on-screen are yet to be officially announced, but his IMDb page credits him with playing a character named Keegan Farr.

Casualty was last on-air for its big anniversary episodes last month, and is expected to return to screens in 2027.

Since stepping away from Hollyoaks, Billy has also been involved in a number of short films and a feature - and asked to compare the experience of making a soap with that of making a movie, he said: "It's the pace of what you shoot.

"When I did Hollyoaks, you're shooting five episodes every week, non-stop, 12 hours a day, six days a week. Whereas you do a film... one scene, you're on it for a week."

He continued: "Hollyoaks is lovely because you get people you meet that love it, because you're in front of them every single day. But I love a good film. It's unbelievable."

Billy's character Sid was involved in a number of high-profile storylines, including county lines drug trafficking, a crush on teacher Courtney Campbell, and a romance with Lizzie Chen-Williams.

He became part of the Lomax clan when matriarch Leela took him in - and cut to the present day, Leela is potentially in line for a romance with soap mainstay Tony Hutchinson.

Actor Kirsty-Leigh Porter told Inside Soap: "They bond over the same things! He's a family man, while she is the head of her family and looks after them all. They are brought together under circumstances through grief, with Tony losing his wife Diane. They're thrown together in a mess of grief and supporting each other.

"It's kind of a roller coaster. There is a bit of up and down in the future, but it's a nice story and not something that we're rushing. I would like to see them together. I think they are quite good for each other. And it's definitely what Diane wanted!"

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
