Jamie Lee Curtis recently opened up about her bond with the late Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner. The actress has been quite open about the bond they all shared and is also going to be awarded the inaugural Michele and Rob Reiner Champion for Change Award at the Children's Institute's Cape & Gown Gala in Los Angeles tomorrow.

She was even invited on stage at the Emmys earlier this year to share her words of remembrance of the filmmaker.

In an interview with Extra, Curtis remembered the Reiner couple and even shared that she is still in touch with their children, Jake, 35, and Romy, 28. She revealed that she continues to support them as they deal with everything one day at a time. She added, “Of course, I mean, we are family. Something like this brings people so much closer.

Like Jake and I were sitting shoulder-to-shoulder doing an interview…and just feeling him there is emotional, and then of course him talking about his parents and their fantastic relationship.

”Curtis also mentioned that the Reiner family still has not grieved properly and that they are still going through the rounds of grief while they await legal action and the next hearing date. “There hasn’t been a big public memorial yet, and so we’re all grieving,” she mentioned.

The ‘Freaky Friday’ star also mentioned the inaugural award that she will receive tomorrow in Reiner’s name. She commented, “The whole thing is filled with such sadness and disbelief, and he loved them so much. I want it to be joyful. I want it to be celebratory. I wanted to be honoring it. It’s not a memorial. It is moving forward together using their energy to inspire all of us.”Rob, Michele, and Curtis had been friends for years and were quite close. Not only that, but she and her husband, Christopher Guest, even got married at Rob’s home on December 18, 1984. While talking to The Hollywood Reporter last month, she mentioned how the wedding ceremony was at their home: “Rob was the best man. My late sister Kelly was my maid of honor. So we are close. Rob is our daughter Annie’s godfather. When Michele married Rob, she and Rob became my daughter’s godparents," she added.Rob Reiner and Jamie Lee Curtis have also shared the screen on multiple occasions, including ‘New Girl’ and ‘The Bear’.
