East Bengal’s Calcutta Football League title defence remained alive after drawing 1-1 with Mohammedan SC in a Super Six-fixture at the Kalyani Stadium on Monday.
With this draw, the Red and Gold Brigade has two points in the Super Six standings, following its goalless draw with United SC in the previous round. Archishman Biswas’ side will face Coal India in its final Super-Six fixture.
Meanwhile, Mohammedan remains in second with six points from two games, just behind Mohun Bagan Super Giant, which drew 1-1 with United SC, on goal difference.
It was Lalthankima’s effort in the 69th minute which seemed to be the winner for the Black Panthers, but Akash Hembram’s late-gasp goal in additional time rescued a point for East Bengal.
East Bengal is the most successful team in CFL history with 41 titles. It had won the last two editions.
