Salesforce is renaming its AIForce agent platform to SIForce, chief executive Marc Benioff said on Friday, as Katherine Li reported for Business Insider. "The era of Super Intelligence is here.
AIForce is officially SIForce," wrote Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff in a post on X, formerly Twitter. Salesforce announced the renaming just hours after the US President Donald Trump's 'enemy post'. Incidentally, the change covers the agent platform only, not the company’s name.Earlier this week, in a post Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, “The White House considers anyone that uses the term, “Artificial Intelligence,” as opposed to the highly accepted new and more accurate term, “Super Intelligence,” THE ENEMY!" An Executive Order in late September, told federal agencies to replace the term Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Super Intelligence (SI).
It asked all federal government agencies to make the switch in official documents and websites.
The order tells executive branch agencies to stop using the older terms. As for timeline, the order also gives Trump’s science and technology adviser 60 days to propose a legal definition of superintelligence.By changing the name, Salesforce follows Tesla CEO Elon Musk. On October 5, Elon Musk said that SpaceX’s artificial intelligence unit, SpaceXAI, will change its name to SpaceXSI.
Musk confirmed the change in a reply on X, after a user had asked him whether SpaceXAI could become SpaceXSI. "Yes, we will make that change," Musk wrote. The Justice Department told staff on October 6 to use the new term, including in court filings “when appropriate”. Similarly, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos too backed the replacement of the term AI with SI in a Fox News interview.“I do like SI, because ‘artificial’ is not a very flattering thing,” Bezos said.
What law says on AI
Artificial intelligence is defined in the law in America in the National AI Initiative Act of 2020, and only Congress can change it. Both the House and the Senate would have to pass a new law, and the President would have to sign it. As a first step, the President’s science adviser has until November 28 to write a proposal for Congress. Even if a new law passes, it would only change the words the government uses.
What Donald Trump's Executive Order says
President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order to replace the term “Artificial Intelligence” (“AI”) with “Super Intelligence” (“SI”) in the executive branch to recognize the continuously advancing technological frontier and the limitless promise it offers the American people. The Order directs all departments and agencies to use the terms “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in official correspondence, public communications, policy documents, and non-statutory documents within the executive branch and to no longer acknowledge the terms “Artificial Intelligence” or “AI”.The Order directs the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology (APST) to propose a Federal definition of “Super Intelligence” and “SI” that reflects the state of this extraordinary frontier technology and identify any additional executive action necessary to implement the proposed definition.
