Mataram (ANTARA) - The Mataram Search and Rescue (SAR) Office moved swiftly to evacuate a Chinese national, identified as Li Xianhua, who was reportedly injured while hiking in the Mount Rinjani area of West Nusa Tenggara, deploying a SAR team from the Sembalun Alert Unit.

"The victim slipped on the Senaru-Batu Ceper hiking trail on Monday morning, suffering a hard impact to the head that caused the victim to lose consciousness," Head of the Mataram Search and Rescue Office Muhamad Hariyadi said in a written statement in Mataram on Monday.

The Mataram SAR Office received a report of the incident at 10:00 a.m. Central Indonesia Time from a representative of EMHC. Initial information indicated that the accident occurred at around 8:00 a.m.

To expedite the evacuation, additional personnel from the Mataram SAR Office and the Bangsa SAR Alert Unit were also deployed.

"The evacuation process is still underway," Hariyadi said.

The main priority was to reach the victim as quickly as possible and provide initial medical assistance, as the victim was reportedly suffering from a head injury and was unconscious.

Hariyadi said the SAR team had been deployed with full resources to ensure the rescue operation ran smoothly, including various SAR equipment, mountaineering gear, medical evacuation equipment and supporting operational vehicles.

The evacuation involved a joint SAR team comprising personnel from the East Lombok SAR Unit, EMHC, Nusa Medica Clinic Sembalun, the Mount Rinjani National Park Office, Sembalun Police, the Sembalun Military District Command, local porters and hiking guides.

"We will provide further updates on the evacuation and the victim's condition once the joint SAR team reaches the scene and successfully brings the victim down from the mountain," Hariyadi said.
