Does the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign have co-op?

The campaign in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is a solo experience, meaning it does not come with co-op.

For those of you desperate to play with your friends, you will have to wait for the 23 October for the full game to launch which will include multiplayer, but this is separate from the main campaign.

This is no huge surprise, especially considering none of the latest CoD titles from 2019’s Modern Warfare to Modern Warfare 4 included a campaign that featured multiplayer.

Previous CoD titles, such as World at War and Black Ops III did feature campaign multiplayer for online play, but this has never been a feature for the latest titles.

Developer Infinity Ward explained the reasoning behind the single-player focus on X, stating that "Every aspect of Modern Warfare 4 is anchored in the game's narrative. Every feature, every decision needs to feel authentic to what Modern Warfare is, and that includes cosmetics and collabs.

"We're committed to keeping it grounded and transparent, and we want to hear from you on what you'd like to see in our game."

Despite the lack of campaign multiplayer, the multiplayer options for Modern Warfare 4 includes 12 maps in 6v6 rounds and features both classic and new modes to try – hopefully, this will be plenty to keep CoD multiplayer fanatics entertained!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is launching on 23 October 2026 across Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
