In short:

Ryan Wood and Tony D'Alberto suffered crashes during the third practice of the Bathurst 1000 weekend on Friday morning.

The team of Cooper Murray and Lochie Dalton, driving the Chevrolet number 99 for Erebus Motorsport, topped the time sheets during third practice, just like they did during Thursday's second practice session.

What's next?

Qualifying on Friday, with the top 10 advancing to Saturday's shootout and setting the grid from 11th onwards, will begin at 4:10pm AEDT.

Kiwi Supercars driver Ryan Wood has escaped injury after a high-speed crash during practice at Mount Panorama.

Driving the number 2 Walkinshaw TWG Racing entry, Wood clipped the inside wall on the entry to Forrest's Elbow, which sent his Toyota into the outside barrier with force.

The force of the impact was reportedly recorded at 42 G-forces, with the Kiwi later cleared by medics at Bathurst.

In an interview with broadcaster Fox Sports, Wood said he apologised to his team, who will now need to work quickly to ensure his car is ready for this afternoon's qualifying session.

"The boys will work pretty hard and that's what I feel stink about — it's given them so much work that they really didn't need," he said.

"Kudos to our team — they do everything by the book. To have a 42G impact like that and be able to walk away is pretty good."

Wood was not the only driver to suffer a big crash during the third practice session of the weekend on Friday morning.

Tony D'Alberto crashed in the final minutes of the session at The Dipper, with his number 38 Dick Johnson Racing entry taken back to the garage on the back of a tow truck.

The team of Cooper Murray and Lochie Dalton, driving the Chevrolet number 99 for Erebus Motorsport, topped the time sheets during third practice, just like they did during Thursday's second practice session.

Qualifying on Friday, with the top 10 advancing to Saturday's shootout and setting the grid from 11th onwards, will begin at 4:10pm AEDT.
