PV Sindhu failed to curtail her losing streak against South Korea’s An Se-young, losing 21-16, 11-21, 12-21 to the World No.1 in the women’s singles final at the French Open on Sunday.

Sindhu managed to take a game off the reigning World Champion for only the second time in 11 games, as the record swells to 11-0 in the South Korean’s favour.

This was just Sindhu’s second Super 750 final of the year, with the first coming at the Japan Open in July, where she went on to win the title.

Earlier, in the semifinal, Sindhu overcame a stiff challenge from Japan’s Hina Akechi in their first-ever meeting on the BWF Tour. The two-time Olympic medallist beat 21-year-old 21-10, 20-22, 21-16 in a match that lasted 73 minutes.

An, meanwhile, beat Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 21-12, 21-19 in 45 minutes to secure a spot in the summit clash for a third consecutive edition.
