20 rescued after passenger boat capsizes off Romblon town

CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO, Philippines — Twenty people were rescued after a passenger boat capsized off Calatrava, Romblon, on Monday afternoon, police said.

The motorized boat MB Stella Gwen 2 capsized near Sitio Guiob in Barangay Talisay after strong waves damaged its outrigger, causing the vessel to lose stability, according to a police report.

Those aboard were 13 police officers, four civilian passengers and three crew members.

All 20 were accounted for and reported safe and in good condition. No casualties were reported.
