Govt assures residents of quality infrastructure in communities

The Director-General of the Warri, Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency, Prince Okakuro Ejinyere, has assured residents of the area that the agency is committed to delivering quality infrastructure in accordance with acceptable engineering standards.
He said WUEDA would continue to ensure that contractors complied with specifications.
Ejinyere spoke at the WUEDA headquarters at DDPA, Effurun while hosting the executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents Chapel.
The WUEDA Director General disclosed that the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, remains committed to restoring the lost glory of Warri, Uvwie and their immediate surroundings.
He said, “WUEDA’s interventions are part of Oborevwori administration’s broader effort to address critical infrastructural challenges in the Oil City”.
While commending the delegation for the visit, the WUEDA boss described their observations and constructive comments as valuable to the agency.
He urged the journalists to adopt a developmental approach to their reportage by giving adequate attention to projects, their objectives, challenges and impact on the people.
”WUEDA is committed to delivering quality infrastructure in accordance with acceptable engineering standards, and the agency shall continue to ensure that contractors complied with specifications”, he stated.
He urged journalists to uphold the ethics of the profession by properly investigating and verifying allegations before publication.

“Journalists should see themselves as partners in development and use their platforms to educate the public, highlight genuine challenges and promote constructive engagement between government agencies and the people.
”Inaccurate news reports and unverified allegations could mislead the public, damage the reputation of institutions, and contribute to the spread of misinformation and fake news,” he added.
WUEDA’s Director of Administration and Finance, Ochuko Mofe-Ojeke, and the agency’s Chief Accountant, Mrs. Roseline Okorigba, were among the Management staff of WUEDA present during the meeting.
The delegation had pledged to synergize with WUEDA to strengthen professional partnership with the agency in promoting development through accurate and responsible journalism.
