Asian Games 2026 Badminton team draws out: India women to face Kazakhstan, men up against Bangladesh in Round of 16

The draws for the badminton teams events at the Asian Games 2026 was revealed on Saturday. Both tournaments will be played in a knockout format.

The Indian women’s team will face Kazakhstan in the round of 16 clash, with the five-match tie set to happen on Sunday (September 20).

If India beats Kazakhstan, it will then face host Japan, which received a bye to the Round of 16. Top-seeded China is on the other side of the draw, meaning India can go up against the Chinese only in the final.

Men’s team draw

Quarterfinal 1: Indonesia vs Malaysia/Mongolia

Quarterfinal 2: Chinese Taipei vs Thailand/Macau China

Quarterfinal 3: Bangladesh/ India vs Kazakhstan/Japan

Quarterfinal 4: Hong Kong/Korea vs China

Women’s team draw

Quarterfinal 1: China vs Thailand

Quarterfinal 2: Chinese Taipei vs Indonesia/Mongolia

Quarterfinal 3: Hong Kong/Malaysia vs Korea

Quarterfinal 4: Kazakhstan/ India vs Japan

Q1 vs Q2 and Q3 vs Q4 in semifinals

Meanwhile, the Indian men’s team will square off against Bangladesh in the round of 16, with the match scheduled on March 21. The Indian side had won silver in the previous edition in Hangzhou.

India could potentially face Japan in the quarterfinal and China in the semifinal in the men’s event. Just like in the women’s event, India can potentially face the top-seeded team (Indonesia) in the final.
