Dzulkefly hints at 'light and hope' in Budget 2027 on ending contract doctor system

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has hinted at "light and hope" in the 2027 Budget, which will be tabled tomorrow by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said ending the contract appointment system had been his aspiration since he returned to lead the ministry.

"The prime minister will make an announcement soon, and we are hopeful that what we have been aiming for since I assumed office for a second time will be to end this contract service.

"But I think, when I look at my colleague, the finance minister II, and the Finance Ministry, there is some light and hope in the upcoming Budget presentation. So I think we need to be a little patient," he said in the Dewan Rakyat today.
