PV Sindhu, Anmol Kharb Set Up All-Indian Hylo Open Semi-Final

Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and rising Indian shuttler Anmol Kharb set up an all-Indian women's singles semi-final at the Hylo Open 2026 in Germany on Friday. Meanwhile, Lakshya Sen stormed into the men's singles semi-finals of the BWF Super 500 tournament, fighting back from a game down to beat Finland's Kalle Koljonen at the Saarlandhalle. Second seed Sindhu cruised into the last four with a commanding 21-12, 21-10 victory over Denmark's Amalie Schulz in just 28 minutes. Sindhu controlled the match from the outset, never allowing her opponent to take the lead in either game as she completed a comfortable straight-games win.
The victory was Sindhu's second over Schulz in as many meetings. The pair had previously met in the round of 16 at the Thailand Open earlier this year, where the Indian also prevailed in straight games.
Meanwhile, Anmol edged past sixth seed Unnati Hooda 21-17, 18-21, 21-16 in a hard-fought quarter-final that lasted 68 minutes.
The contest marked the first BWF World Tour meeting between the two 19-year-old Indian shuttlers.
The opening game was closely contested until 6-6 before Anmol raised her intensity to pull away and take it 21-17.
Unnati responded strongly in the second game, opening up a 15-11 lead. Although Anmol fought back to level the scores at 18-18, Unnati won the next three points to force a decider.
Unnati carried that momentum into the third game and raced to a 6-3 lead, but Anmol gradually worked her way back into the contest.
After reducing the deficit to 12-11, Anmol took complete control, reeling off eight consecutive points to move to 19-12. Unnati attempted a late comeback, but Anmol held firm to close out the match and book her place in the semi-finals.
In men's singles, seventh seed Lakshya produced a strong comeback to defeat Koljonen 14-21, 21-17, 21-13 in a one-hour-and-six-minute encounter.
The opening game remained evenly poised until 6-6 before the Finn took control in the latter stages to move ahead.
Lakshya responded impressively in the second game, building an early advantage and maintaining it despite Koljonen remaining within touching distance.
The deciding game was level at 4-4 before Lakshya shifted gears, winning four consecutive points to seize control. He maintained the momentum and comfortably closed out the contest to secure his place in the semi-finals.
The result marks Lakshya's first individual BWF World Tour semi-final appearance since finishing runner-up at the All England Open in March.
