Grey's Anatomy season 23 new cast member details revealed following flurry of changes

The cast of Grey’s Anatomy is expanding, with a host of new cast members confirmed to be joining the show for season 23.

The upcoming instalment of the medical drama, which ABC renewed back in March, is set to land this autumn, with plenty of familiar faces expected to return.

And now we now that three new faces will also be appearing, with Variety reporting that Never Have I Ever star Martin Martinez, The Sex Lives of College Girls actor Trevor Tordjman and Schitt's Creek star Sarah Levy have joined the cast in guest roles.

Levy is set to play Corrie, according to the publication, who’s "witty", "a bit of an oddball" and "very pregnant".

"She has a lot of anxiety about giving birth to her second child after the traumatic experience she had with her first child," according to the description.

Levy’s other credits include TV drama SurrealEstate and the Osgood Perkins film The Monkey.

Martinez, who’s also known for starring in Chigao PD and Shameless, will star as Charlie, a character who "has had a rough upbringing and as a result of the trauma he's experienced, he has a tough exterior and struggles to trust other people".

Meanwhile, Tordjman, who has also appeared in Apple TV’s The Studio, will appear as Thomas, who is described as a "fun-loving and charming boy next door who doesn't realise he is as cute as he is".

"Thomas is at the hospital to help ensure his brother's girlfriend is okay," the description also tells us.

The casting news follows an emotional season 22 finale, which bid adieu to two of the show's longest-standing cast members.

Kim Raver and Kevin McKidd, who play Dr Owen Hunt and Dr Teddy Altman, departed as series regulars in the finale after their divorced characters reconciled and walked off into the sunset together to begin a new life in Paris.

It was revealed back in March that the pair would be leaving the show at the end of season 22, with McKidd saying in a statement: "Grey’s Anatomy has been a huge chapter of my life, creatively and personally... Playing Dr Owen Hunt and directing on the show have both shaped me enormously."

Raver added that playing Teddy Altman "will always hold a dear and special place in my heart", thanking fans for their "unwavering devotion" over the years.
