Ray Winstone threatens to fight Danny Dyer on live TV

Ray Winstone has issued a joking threat to "blow up Strictly Come Dancing" by fighting Danny Dyer on live TV. The proposition comes as it was announced that Ray's daughter, Jaime Winstone, would be a contestant on the upcoming season alongside the EastEnders star's daughter, Dani Dyer.

While appearing on The Romesh Ranganathan Show, Ray warned that if Dani scored better than Jaime while competing, he'd have to take drastic measures.

"Maybe we'll meet up and me and Danny, while we watch our two daughters, you know, do their thing," he began.

"And me and Danny can have a fight in the audience. Which would be kind of nice. End Strictly for good."

He joked that if Dani scored a perfect 40 points in her first dance, he would say to Danny: "'That was a liberty, that was then. Your daughter took the liberty there'."

The Gentlemen star continued: "Young Dani, you know we go back a long way, you know. I've known Danny (Dyer) many, many years. Worked with him a couple of times as well.

"And his little girl's a lovely kid. You know, she's a good girl."

He also opened up on his reaction to finding out Jaime would be competing on the BBC show, saying: "I went, 'You're doing what?' I said, 'You're not a celebrity. You want to be an actress, don't you? You don't want to be doing all that, like going in the jungle and all that business. So leave that right out'.

"[She said], 'Dad, it's a different world' and it is a different world today. I mean, I'm stuck in, I'm a dinosaur, you know, I'm stuck back there. But today it's about how many followers you got on Instagram, it's, you know, YouTube and I don't even know how to press the button half the time, you know. And that's what it is."

He added: "She gets the dancing from her mother. I'm very proud of Jaime. It's going to be very hard work to do it.

"But if you get her fit, she'll be as fit as a butcher's dog by the time she's finished. And so, yeah, I'm very proud of her."

Ray said he will be in Malta while Jaime appears on Strictly, but he will fly home "one weekend" to support her.
