Australian faces two years in Bali court over meth purchase

Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - Prosecutors in Denpasar, Bali, are seeking a two-year prison sentence for Australian national Sean Duncan Millar, 50, for ordering methamphetamine for personal use.

Prosecutor Gusti Ayu Yunita told the Denpasar District Court on Thursday that Millar was proven to have illegally possessed and used narcotics, violating Article 127(1)(a) of Indonesia’s 2009 Narcotics Law.

Millar, accompanied by his lawyer Jupiter, said he would submit an oral defense, or pledoi, at the next hearing.

Judge Eni Martiningrum adjourned the case until Thursday, September 24, 2026, to allow the defense counsel to present its argument.

According to court documents, the case began when Millar met an individual identified as Made (alias Roofair Indo), who has been on the Denpasar police wanted list since June 2026.

Millar allegedly ordered about 0.6 grams of methamphetamine from Made in April 2026, paying approximately Rp1.7 million (US$96) and meeting him at the Trimulia Guest House in West Denpasar.

Police arrested Millar at the guest house before he could consume the drugs.

During a search of his room, officers seized a plastic bag containing clear crystals on a bedroom table, a bong on the floor, a glass pipe on a shelf, and an iPhone 16 that Millar acknowledged was his.

A police weighing report dated April 5, 2026, confirmed the clear crystals weighed 0.6 grams net (0.8 grams gross), while a forensic laboratory test on April 6 confirmed the substance was methamphetamine.
