Ghulam Mustafa Bashir becomes first Pakistan man to win Asian Games shooting medal

Ghulam Mustafa Bashir became the first Pakistan man to win a shooting medal at an Asian Games, after he secured a bronze medal in the men’s 25 metres rapid fire pistol competition in Aichi-Nagoya on Thursday.
Kishmala Talat is the only other Pakistani to win a shooting medal at Asiad — she had bagged bronze in the women’s 10 m air pistol in Hangzhou 2022.
Bashir, who had won bronze in the same event at the 2022 World Championship, finished with 22 points in the final at the Aichi Pref. General Shooting Gallery.
The 39-year-old finished behind China’s Su Lianbofan and South Korea’s Gunhyeok Lee, who won silver and gold respectively.
India’s Anish Bhanwala also featured in the final and finished seventh.
