Best Buy (BBY) announced the launch of its Best Buy Gamers hub in beta. The free online hub was highlighted as putting gaming content, gear, special offers, sweepstakes, and events all in one place, with the goal to save gamers from checking several sites for news, reviews, preorders, and deals. Users can tailor the hub to their gaming platforms and interests.
A key part of the launch is a partnership with IGN, which will provide special reviews, articles, and videos for the hub. Users can set up profiles listing their favorite platforms and devices, the genres they follow, and how they enjoy playing. The hub also connects to Best Buy (BBY) stores. In November, Best Buy (BBY) will open a dedicated in-store gaming space in Torrance, California, where visitors can play new games, get expert tips, and go to events co-hosted with IGN.
Best Buy (BBY) plans to add features, content, and benefits based on feedback during the beta.
"Gamers are a customer that are really like no other in terms of their passion for not just the tech and the titles but also how they want to work with each other as a community," highlighted Best Buy (BBY) Chief Revenue Officer McGinnis. "So for us, being relevant for that customer wherever and whenever they want to interact with the thing that they love is really important," he added.
Notably, Best Buy (BBY) launched the gamers hub ahead of the November 5 release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and the long-awaited release of Grand Theft Auto 6 on November 19.
