Pastor Kanyari Leaks Private WhatsApp Chats With Daughter Sky To Prove Financial Support
Pastor Victor Kanyari has taken his defense to social media, leaking a private WhatsApp chat with his daughter Sky Victor in which she expresses gratitude to him for paying her school fees.
The screenshot, posted by Kanyari, shows a contact saved as “Sky My D…” from October 2023. In the exchange, Sky writes:
“Thank you baba. You are the best. Now, I can go to school. You’re the best father anybody could ask for.” Additional messages from the same thread show Sky informing her father about mid-term breaks and asking when he would pick her up.
The release of the chat is part of a broader pattern by Kanyari, who has repeatedly posted private interactions with his children to counter public skepticism regarding his financial involvement in their upbringing. The preacher has consistently maintained that he pays their school fees, claiming to have recently contributed KSh 500,000 toward their education.
The public debate over the children’s welfare intensified following the death of their mother, gospel singer Betty Bayo, who passed away on November 10, 2025, after a battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Bayo was laid to rest on November 20, 2025, in Mugumo Estate, Kiambu, in a service attended by both Kanyari and her widower, Hiram Gitau (Tash).
Kanyari’s decision to share the private messages has drawn mixed reactions online. While some supporters view the screenshots as proof of his active role as a father, critics have raised ethical concerns over a parent publicizing private conversations with a minor.
The online exchanges come amid an ongoing custody dispute following a court ruling that awarded Kanyari custody of his children with the late Bayo. The ruling prompted a emotional plea from 14-year-old Sky to President William Ruto, in which she expressed distress over living with her father and requested to remain with her stepfather.
