Orlando Pirates surpass Kaizer Chiefs, eye Sundowns record

Orlando Pirates have surpassed both Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United following their 4-0 win over Kruger United on Tuesday night.

The Buccaneers thumped the PSL rookies to maintain their top spot on the Betway Premiership log.

And this was not just a victory for Pirates as they continue to break and set new records in the PSL since the arrival of Abdeslam Ouaddou.

The victory over Kruger United saw Pirates stretch their unbeaten away run to 18 across all competitions.

According to OptaJabu, Pirates surpassed both Chiefs (17 – twice) and the now defunct SuperSport United (also on 17).

Only Mamelodi Sundowns are ahead of Pirates after going a whopping 20 away games without tasting defeat between 2020 and 2021.

Now, in those 18 away games, the Sea Robbers managed 14 wins and registered four draws, dating back to October 2025.

THE SOWETO GIANTS IN TOP FORM…

The Soweto giants have undoubtedly started this campaign like a house on fire compared to last season.

Pirates lost there opening two games last season, but they are now unbeaten with a single draw to their name after five league games.

Last season, Bucs had scored just six goals after five league games while they have, so far, netted 12 goals.
