Hearts of Oak’s Osei Asibey ‘ready’ for Black Stars call

Hearts of Oak defender Kelvin Osei Asibey believes he is ready for an invitation into the Black Stars team following his strong start to the season.

The defender has been a strong force for the Phobians, who are joint-top of the Ghana Premier League after eight games played.

Following his impressive performances, including his outing against Basake Holy Stars over the weekend, Asibey has expressed readiness to wear the national team colours for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Somalia.

"As long as I am a citizen of the Republic of Ghana, I am ready; whenever the nation needs my services, I’ll come and serve the nation very well," Asibey said following the Phobians' victory over Holy Stars.

As recognition for his sterling performances, Asibey has been named Player of the Match for Heart's last three games, indicating his importance for Nebojsa Kapor's side in the Ghanaian top flight.

The Black Stars are chasing a first win in the qualifiers after losing to Cote d'Ivoire and Gambia but are up for a doubleheader against Somalia next month.
