Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla has postponed his scheduled trip to France to seek local authorities’ help to locate former Ako Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co, among other public officials facing raps in the Philippines.

Remulla said the postponement was due to the ongoing massive protests in France amid the high cost of living and other social services.

“Magulo [roon] e. Actually, I cancelled the trip to France. I was supposed to leave on the 17th [this month]. But we cancelled the trip already, because it has become a nationwide march. 800,000 congregated in France,” Remulla said in a press conference.

“That is not a regular thing. It's a very special time for them. And I don't think you want to be caught in the middle of it. [So] for those who are hiding there, good luck to them,” he added.

He then went on to say that Co, as well as Senator Loren Legarda and Batangas First District Rep. Leandro Leviste, are hiding in France.

Co is facing multiple malversation, graft, and plunder cases over his alleged connection with the flood control kickback scheme, while Legarda and her son are facing a plunder complaint over the alleged failure of Leviste’s firm to provide solar energy to communities as provided under the congressional franchise granted to it.

“Ang nagtatago dyan: Zaldy Co, Loren Legarda, at saka iyong anak niya: Leandro Leviste. Ayaw nila humarap sa kaso eh,” Remulla added.

(Co , Legarda, and her son are hiding in there. They are evading the complaints against them.)

GMA News Online has reached out to Leviste for comment and will publish it as soon as it becomes available. —AOL, GMA News
