MRT Jakarta seeks Singapore's investment for TOD projects

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is seeking investment from Southeast Asian investors, particularly Singapore, to develop transit-oriented development (TOD) projects in Jakarta at the 2026 TOD Investment Forum.

MRT Jakarta Property Management Division Head M. Iqbal Bimo Arifianto said overseas investment could accelerate the development of MRT projects in Jakarta, making them more modern and integrated with public-transport services.

“Even the development of Blok M, for example, will seek foreign investors for funding. Investors not only bring funding for Jakarta’s development, but also knowledge of how they develop TOD projects there,” Iqbal said here Thursday.

“We can gain funding for development and the city, but also gain knowledge indirectly,” he added.

MRT Jakarta is holding the 2026 TOD Investment Forum at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore in collaboration with the embassy, Surbana Jurong Group and the Indonesia Investment Promotion Centre (IIPC) Singapore.

The annual forum brings together investors, developers, financial institutions, government representatives and strategic partners to explore cooperation on TOD projects by MRT Jakarta and other Jakarta-owned regional enterprises.

Under the theme “From Singapore to Jakarta: Capitalizing on Urban Density and Connectivity,” the forum features a focused discussion on building transit-oriented districts and supporting sustainable urban growth.

MRT Jakarta presented several planned TOD projects, including Kali Besar Heritage, Ultimate Development Blok M, Blok M Interchange, XGL Mixed-Use, and the Lebak Bulus Interchange Bus Terminal, Park and Ride, and Mixed Use.

Iqbal said the forum also has support from several Jakarta-owned regional enterprises, including PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol, PT Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung, PT Transportasi Jakarta, PT Moda Integrasi Transportasi Jabodetabek and PT Integrasi Transit Jakarta.

“We also have collaboration with the regional government, represented by several Jakarta-owned enterprises, including Ancol and others focused on developing the TOD concept,” Iqbal said.
