DepEd: Over 172,000 teachers, staff to get Apple laptops

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) has secured 172,654 Apple MacBook Neo laptops worth over P7.4 billion for public school teachers and administrative personnel, with a five-year warranty and a unit price lower than the devices’ suggested retail price (SRP).
The procurement forms part of the government’s effort to equip educators with digital tools, with deployment scheduled from November this year to March 2027.
In a statement on Tuesday, DepEd said it secured the MacBook Neo units at approximately P43,000 each, or about P6,900 below the model’s SRP of P49,900 in the Philippines.
